runulvI think it's a shame that casters weren't allowed to prep up beforehand - 20 secs for a few key spells would seem fair.

ahrimenRunulv, that's actually what I liked about this tournament. The best spelled characters didn't necessarily have a chance to get completely spelled up, or else they sacrificed rounds to do so. It gave some teams that didn't have the best spells an opportunity to equalize if they attacked fast. Overall it was a decent showing by everyone. It also goes to show (once more) how powerful a stun/tent mage can be.

You guys did really well though. Good use of druid. I don't think anyone else was using entangle and it helped a lot.

SheshUhm. Tajs/Sean you seem to be talking about some other log...
First, this one is like 100 rounds long. Those casters have casted out all the spells, whoever wanted, had 20x the time needed to spellup.
Furthermore, both sides failed to capitalize on the presumably huge stun/tent advantage (having 2+ curers helps) and had to run till the complete exhaustion. Actually my damage calculation script shows that most damage overall was dealt by - not Sotofa or Ajik as you might think - but Flicka.

alactually, i'm not suprised by that stat at all. a wardancing barb is designed to specialize in damage - both receiving and dealing it out to your opponent. mages on the contrary can be considered the complete package. they've got defence, offence, utility... and when they are at their buffest, are hardpressed to be defeated by any class in the solo arena.

i still will stand by my opinion that tent should not automatically land on a held or stunned character, or make it so that tent and/or stun should be targetable spells.

runulvSpells for casters are equivalent of gear for tank type essentially and I'm not saying they should be allowed to spell up fully. But it gave tanks/bashers a huge advantage vs the casters. Could also say that you were allowed to prep, say 2 or 3 spells before entering.

ahrimenIt's true I was thinking more to the fight that WNR had vs outlaw earlier then I was of this fight, specifically where wnr's entire group was stunned/tented/entangled in the first 2 rounds and Marqy went down immediatly..which showed a good use of entangle (I think it hit 2 people, marqy/nahuatl combined with stun hitting kazajii/ghak/petra)

I agree with Al: tent shouldn't be automatic. It's just not well balanced.

It was a good fight though. Fairly well balanced. Immune fire won the day.

Well, the power of those spells don't rely on the damage you deal to other players.. did you count the damage NOT DEALT by those tented/stunned per round and add it to Sotofa's/Ajik's overall damage?

auzandyWhat about next time each non-casters equip except for weapon and shield is loaded in a chest randomly placed in arena that only they can loot from.

That way everyone has same choice - attack right away with what you have, or spend time prepping yourself up - for casters it would be firehsielding amsing etc and for tanks it would be finding and wearing +con +hp +dam +skill equip...

just a random crazy thought

ali don't know if it should be viewed as a problem, but i don't think there is any reason why a spell should automatically land just because another may have a few rounds before. a save's a save - it should have to be tested regardless of the circumstance. i mean it's not like casting sunray will automatically blind an incapacitated target, or by the same token casting an entangle will automatically wrap them up. i believe the idea behind all the classes of arctic is to have balance, and i think that by slightly tweaking some of the aspects of certain spells that goal can be accomplished. i'm not suggesting the spell be removed, but instead the mechanics revised... i think most people will agree that the mage class would still rock even with this slight change!

KalisWell, bash automatically lands on stunned/held targets, so that would be a fair rationale if tent/entangle were an armor/dex check.
