The Outskirts of Balifor
Approaching the outer rim of Balifor, many of the buildings that still
stand are the remnants of businesses that moved into more lucrative
neighborhoods. The air is tainted with the hint of fish, becoming stronger
yet nearer to the old warehouses that line the road. Westward, a massive
building towers over its neighbors... a depressing structure of grey stone
and nearly devoid of windows. Decrepit storehouses end the road to the
south, while a few smaller though also abandoned buildings jut roughly
skyward along the eastern side of the road. The street itself continues
north in a barely recognizable path of cobbles, mostly overwhelmed by dirt.

Large gears lie half buried in the floor, pulleys extend through holes
up to the ceiling, and a spiderweb of ropes is twined throughout the room.
Much thought was put into this deterrent along with backbreaking labor, the
system's machinery is massive: some of the gears must have been transported
by wagon as there are few strong enough to so much as budge them, as well
as suspended pulleys nearly as wide as a human's arm span. Humbled by the
monumental workings around it is an iron hatch set into the floor, tinged a
corroded orange-brown color from exposure. An empty doorframe stands to the
east, though the wall that once housed it is mostly missing; now a doorway
itself through which fleeting winds whip into the room.

A Concealed Passage
Standing impenetrably around you, the massive stone walls appear to be
getting larger. Scanning up the cold walls you see dark streaks and stains
that drip down from the ceiling, where water occasionally leaks its way
through the hairline seams. Following the ceiling further your eyes come
across a hatch of stone in its center, though it has no apparent handle.
Close behind the hatch two ropes descend through a pair of holes in the
ceiling, each attached to a large sandbag. The only other features of
notice is a circular depression in the northern wall and a short lever on
the southern.
Two bags lie on the floor, split open and leaking piles of sand.

The Outskirts of Balifor
Approaching the outer rim of Balifor, many of the buildings that still
stand are the remnants of businesses that moved into more lucrative
neighborhoods. The air is tainted with the hint of fish, becoming stronger
yet nearer to the old warehouses that line the road. Westward, a massive
building towers over its neighbors... a depressing structure of grey stone
and nearly devoid of windows. Decrepit storehouses end the road to the
south, while a few smaller though also abandoned buildings jut roughly
skyward along the eastern side of the road. The street itself continues
north in a barely recognizable path of cobbles, mostly overwhelmed by dirt.

Large gears lie half buried in the floor, pulleys extend through holes
up to the ceiling, and a spiderweb of ropes is twined throughout the room.
Much thought was put into this deterrent along with backbreaking labor, the
system's machinery is massive: some of the gears must have been transported
by wagon as there are few strong enough to so much as budge them, as well
as suspended pulleys nearly as wide as a human's arm span. Humbled by the
monumental workings around it is an iron hatch set into the floor, tinged a
corroded orange-brown color from exposure. An empty doorframe stands to the
east, though the wall that once housed it is mostly missing; now a doorway
itself through which fleeting winds whip into the room.
