The Main Lift
This lift is huge. Nearly one hundred dwarves could stand on the lift
at once, but apparently capacity is rarely reached. The lift is also
exorbitantly clean, which is particularly surprising in light of the fact
that it is a mining lift, obviously the engineers take great pride in their
design, to have kept it sparkling. Walled in by the mountain, there is not
much to do in the lift. A large set of buttons is set against the western
and eastern walls, a good twenty minotaur lengths apart.
Yamoto the Male Half Elf is sitting here. (flying)

This is why I have a ton of respect for Corey. If you're going to do something, do it well. He's not a bitch who needs a clan to hold his hand, he takes risks and enjoys a challenge and using his head.

That's not to say I wouldn't hunt him or whatever, but with these logs, whatever else is out there, adam and corey are at least respectable adversaries.

Sidenote: Why would Pishta not recall in earlier log? I think Corey does a public service at times, stripping newbies of gear.

Corey's quite capable of fighting fairly, but only a fool fights 'fair' when they're trying to win a war.

    Trying to win?

The concept isn't that similar in Arctic.

If Confederacy wanted to win vs. NowCLAN, they ought to recognize NOWclan's achilles heel... boredom.

Corey and company play, and battle like this for the thrill of the fight. Falling into their traps, dying stupidly, etc, only fuels them.

Now if they don't care whether they die or not, or if they 'win', or not.. okay then, have fun.

Yes Rurh, you hit the nail on the head.

Going by your dumbass logic, Outlaws were fighting unfair for most of last wipe because they had most of the epic items in the game, even though BSP heavily outnumbered them?
  47. Rurh · 1 Oct 2005
Malthros, doesn't seem you actually understand the logic given.

Maybe one day you could actually stop spinning what I say into saying something I haven't.

BSD had a neverending supply of decent equipment, in addition to numbers, can be matched for the most part with fewer numbers and better equipment.
  48. Rurh · 1 Oct 2005
Welzar, while your list is impressive, it's dwarfed by the number of kills corey has that are 'unfair'.

I don't suppose you could add any more to that minature list... it's sort of pathetic.

Oh, and when are you going to attack non-newbies like bsd or outlaw? I thought you were going to wage war on all clans, except myth/kos/neutrals, but then kill them anyway.

I could probably add to that list, I found them all in like 2 minutes, but uhh believe what you like, nowclan are a bunch of abusers and we hate fairness and love nothing more than crushing the dreams of good fair mud players like Sigils and Addiction.

I don't really understand what makes Corey's kills unfair? He executes a plan that he thinks up, that is easily counterable (WEAR 2 LIGHTS WHEN GRAUTH IS ON (SORRY IF I RUINED YOUR LEET (OOPS I MEAN CHEATER/ABUSE)TACTICS COREY)).

    Alright Rurh I'll bite.

    http://arctic.elay.org/index.php?option=viewlog&logid=1552
7v10, yes we used haste and charmies but we still didn't WIN, or come close. Compare those groups, 1 healer (who hadn't memmed full) vs what, 3? Going to that fight with 7 without corpses would have been hopeless, and the fact that we fought at all just demonstrates how awesome we are.

    http://arctic.elay.org/index.php?option=viewlog&logid=1526
I wasn't here for this and I don't care to reread the log, but if I remember right it's 6 Nowclan vs 10 Sigil? C'mon, I should think at this point we've demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that Nowclan is willing and eager to fight whenever there's a fight to be had, with few exceptions. We're just not eager to throw our characters away to make our enemies feel good when we can make the fight more even and entertaining for all.

There have also been times, and obviously there are no logs of this, where we've tried to fight Sigil on their terms and they've refused. There was an incident where Sigil had 10 and we had 8 I think and they trash talked for about 20 minutes then massrented. We've also offered them such lucrative fights as 7v12, 7v15 and 10v25 and been turned down.

Finally with the elevator fight... would it have been fair for our unhasted 6 to fight their 10 that was coming to kill us? This isn't a case of us opting out of a fair fight to screw them over, it was going to be unbalanced either way- we just unbalanced it in our favor... a lot!
  54. Rurh · 1 Oct 2005
Welzar: I didn't even bring that up, nor was I thinking that.

    Corey: And?

If you're so high and mighty, declaring war on all clans, you should be battling those you are at war with, shouldn't you?

"Welzar, while your list is impressive, it's dwarfed by the number of kills corey has that are 'unfair'." What were you refering to?
  56. RottenPotato · 1 Oct 2005
Yes Rurh, and? We were actually on our way to jump outlaw and bsp fighting yesterday when renshai got in our way. The first fight we had was right in front of Que Kul.
  57. Rurh · 1 Oct 2005
Jumping falls under the category of a trick.

    It's not 4 vs 10.

    It's 4 + badass mob vs. 10.

That, and the group was already hurt, and unprepared.

If you had faught 4 vs. 10 straight up, you would have lost hardcore.
  58. reafe · 1 Oct 2005
This is Rurh's weakest whine yet. Nobody ever fights with equal numbers and with the exact same, pre-specified tactis. Here are some examples to back up my argument, I am sure you will try and refute them with horrible logic and method of argumentation:

    1) One side has their casters sit a room away from the tanks, so that they may enter after the initial engagement.
    2) One side uses charmies.
    3) One side uses different preparation items.
    4) Some people use triggers, some do not.
    5) People use fight location to their advantage. This includes zone features such as the one shown in this log, weather availability - outside or inside, room type - barriable/fly required/waterbreath required/etc, closeable or lockeable doors, etc.

The closest way to get a "fair" fight is to have it set up by the immortals in a tournament ring. Even then different tactics will be used.

shit son, nowclan can never fight fair. even when we sit around for 10 hours and finally agree on a place to fight 10v10, we'll throw in that extra barkskin just to throw the fight in our favor.. we just can't help playing an angle like that..

honestly though.. why would we ever do that? prearranging fights absolutely nullifies any real skill involved in pk. it's not hard to type 'bash target' or st;cast 'ice storm'.. what's hard is getting yourself in a position where you have a strong chance of killing the enemy without dying yourself. the real skill in pk is gaining that advantage, and executing a plan to perfection.

dont talk about 'fairness'.. they could do a ridiculous number of things to prevent this shit from happening to them. either they aren't good enough for it and should ask us for peace (if they dont then they deserve what they get), or we're just doing a badass job of executing our pk plans.

PS: Jumping falls under the category of a trick.

    It's not 4 vs 10.

    It's 4 + badass mob vs. 10.

that's the funniest shit i've ever seen posted.

You think that having better equipment, spell,s or charmies, even when facing greater numbers, is still 'unfair', hence, by your dumbass logic, you'd probably think Outlaw was unfairly fighting BSP last wipe when they could log 10 chars that were stacked so heavily that they could crush 1.5x their numbers...alot.

Supposedly BSD is fairly good. If you can win a few battles against them, then you'd actually be considered to be good, as opposed to ambushing helpless newbies.

    Matthew:

"what's hard is getting yourself in a position where you have a strong chance of killing the enemy without dying yourself"
It's wrong if you've set yourself up as the self proclaimed awesome pkers of the mud.
You can be considered to be good if you managed to overcome bad odds against you. You're nothing more than a wimp, with cowardly tactics, if you rely on anything less.

"that's the funniest shit i've ever seen posted."
    Care to explain the humor?

A level 1 with 2 pws/prism/2-3 anni/oblit charmies, can wreak a bit of havoc, despite the fact it's a stupid little level 1.
Mages have been known to relocate in, and fuck up large groups during fights. Remember that?
Wait a sec, people were complaining about that... odd.. seems like you people would think it was a perfectly legit tactic that should be applauded.

There has been nothing preventing me from rejoining that board.

    And btw,

"that document ruins lots of people's hard work"

I find it funny how all of a sudden that's a valid argument. But it doesn't apply to randoming.

The staff voluntarily put time into their work. No one made them do it. They didn't pay to do it. If they don't like it, they should leave.
The players voluntarily put time into their chars. No one made them do it. They didn't pay to do it. If they don't like it, they should leave.

The only difference really, is in quantity of work, and for how many... basically scale.

But as far as I remember, scale didn't matter to you guys.

I was wondering how long until someone tried to make that connection.

"Nobody understand that 'logic' you give Rurh."

Nor yours, since yours is always heavily flawed and based on false understandings.

"Newsflash you dumbass, it's not the rest of the world that's the problem, it's you."

Nice newsflash. It's weird how that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, though.

See this is the fundamental issue here, with your childlike brain unable to fathom simple concepts.

    1) If, when all the pro's and con's are summed, they are evenly matched (within a certain amount of tolerance), then it's fair.
    2) References to "well we defeated them when they were twice our numbers" is an attempt to decree how awesome they are.. despite the fact that they had bonuses which leveled the playing field. So they weren't so awesome. Fairness wasn't really in debate at that point, other than ambushing at major battles. MoM is hairy, even when everything is going according to plan. The power of the attacking group is heavily amplified in these situations, even when you don't have that many people. Just bashing their healers is enough to fuck them over.

"you'd probably think Outlaw was unfairly fighting BSP last wipe when they could log 10 chars that were stacked so heavily that they could crush 1.5x their numbers"
    See above.
Yeah, but I don't.. weird that. It's almost as though.. you didn't understand..

"Complete with the mental retardation, hypocracy, and bullshit. "
You're like the gullydwarves. Unable to argue about anything that exists. Or something.

75% of your arguments are based upon strawmen which are fundamentally flawed. And despite being shown that, you keep thinking you've somehow won the argument.
Nowclan smugingly thrust themselves into the spotlight, by trying to make everyone 'ooh ahhh' because they were daring enough to "declare war on all clans" except for those clans which might actually be a threat to them, as opposed to renshai who keeps 'falling', or myth/kos who can barely defend themselves to begin with.
I'm not just talking about numbers, or spells/equipment. Newbieness plays a heavy factor as well.
  82. Rurh · 1 Oct 2005
Yet nowclan has some of the "best" pk individuals in the game. You'd think they could take on a challenge on occasion.
  83. RottenPotato · 1 Oct 2005
Just because we have the best pkers does not mean we have the best eq. It's been said before that any old idiot can type st;bash. What's dangerous is when they are 15damage.
  84. Kuss · 1 Oct 2005
Andrew, shouldn't you be shouting keywords and zone info by now. Or does that only happen when bsp or whoever decides to destroy the remnants of your clan.

There is nothing wrong with dicking around with new clans, it's better than whoring myself to much larger clans who obsess over this game and destroying their enemies to the point where it isn't fun anymore.

And Seq you're so full of shit, I can't name any time this wipe where we've had anything close to 25 members. The Confederates and Nowclan probably have roughly the same numbers. However, we'll keep zoning, re-eqing and continue to fight. Eventually nowclan will lose a major fight and because they don't zone and lost their shinies, they'll all quit or join Wildlaw.

As for the fight itself, I figured there was some sort of trap ahead but didn't think it would be anything of that magnitude, not even sure corey knew how well it would work. Cheers to randomerclan, you win the day.
  85. mattafk · 1 Oct 2005
"You can be considered to be good if you managed to overcome bad odds against you. You're nothing more than a wimp, with cowardly tactics, if you rely on anything less."

Just a little sports reference here... so say, Roger Federer, who completely dominates mens tennis.. he's really not accomplishing anything, because he's so much better than his opponents and consistently crushes them? We should call him a coward and a wimp for that. Same goes for Tiger Woods and any other athlete who has ever dominated a sport. They should let their opponents play them 2 on 1 or something, that'd be fairer.

Now, you're probably going to say that they all started on an even playing field.. but arctic is an even playing field as well. We're just doing what we can to win with the tools we've been given. (That EVERYONE has been given.)

  86. RottenPotato · 1 Oct 2005

When will you stop your bullshit arguements that even you know are twisted beyond belief? Do us all a favor and go kill yourself.
  90. Seq · 2 Oct 2005
Hey, I offered Monty 10v25 and he said no is all I'm saying, I don't know how many members are in your clan!

Rurh/other jerks, I've offered Sigil/Confederates/Renshai peace on multiple occasions with reasonable terms of cash tribute. They've steadfastly refused, and it's not a case of them being unable to meet our terms. As far as I'm concerned that means they want to keep fighting us, and obviously they do because they keep doing it. If they want to keep fighting, why in god's name would we stop? We also have been fighting BSP, they've killed our characters and we've killed uh, at least one of theirs, I think more but I may be wrong. The part about fighting BSP that's tough for us is we have precisely TWO members who play regularly, and the kind of fight group you see here is pretty much the most we ever have at one time. Yes, we have more than 10 members, I think in total we have roughtly 16, but none of them PLAY! Now look at Outlaw, they are capable of forming larger and better groups than we are and they barely ever fight BSP. Hell, we don't even fight Sigil that often, I think we've had half a dozen actual battles this wipe. So expecting us to have a bunch of 7v7 10v10 fights against BSP is not only unreasonable, it's stupid. I know this won't make a difference to you but despite those challenges we've almost fought BSP/Outlaw on several occasions and then had the opportunity go away for whatever reason. This fight being a case in point, like Corey said, our plan was to charge into the Outlaw/BSP fight and make it unfair and ruin everything. Too bad Sigil decided they wanted to fight Nowclan. Yeah we're real bullies.

So what your saying is for a war with NOWClan to be fair, we have to attack a clan that has way better eq, way better spells, and probably 3-4x the players? Are we THAT good?

edit: we have about 7 who log even semi regularily
  92. Kuss · 2 Oct 2005

Yes major props to corey and nowclan for the use of that zone. However what people dont understand/relize/or even know, is that the lift didnt fuck up and just hit twice by chance. It hit twice because the button was pushed twice. Grauth/Yamoto hit the button twice because that was just enough damage to take out most casters, and do heavy damage to the tanks. If there were 3 people pushing the button, all would of more then likely died. Some call it abuse, others would say using to your advantage. Good log all in all. Hope to see more like it.
  104. RottenPotato · 4 Oct 2005
In all honesty, it wasn't supposed to go off twice. The reason we had 2 people up there is in case one of us got bashed. You see, the plan normally consisted of three people at the top and 7 at the bottom, and smart enemies who bash people. This obviously was altered in some way.
