Then, when we finally recalled after trick poofed to us and then quit out, he tried to summon me and I decided to put an end to it. I memed 3 summons, not expecting to really land one, and what would you know? I got him on the third try. We traded a few spells, he worded out, and rented before anyone in Apoc even knew what had happened.

I'd ask what happened to the days where we had declaration of war in the form of a message, and not a surprise attack, but I haven't been playing that long, so I put it to the veterans whether such days ever existed.
I think infiltrating a clan and spying takes things to a new, morally questionable area because you're not just restricting your warfare to the game, but moving into the realm of real interactions and friendships. (Then again, by that standard, I'm sure a lot of the trash talking crosses that line too). At the same time, while we may debate whether Sonni's tactic was justifiable or not, I think we can all agree it wasn't on the same level as other incidents that have occurred. I mean, pretending to be friends with people in order to sneak past the cautious standards of a clan like BSP or Wild is a lot of long term, deliberate deception--you're not only positioning your piece into a better position on the game board, you're pretty directly deceiving and manipulating the players behind the characters. Joining a clan that was looking for warm bodies for a war and not mentioning you're the enemy is a pretty glaring lie by omission, but it doesn't seem like anyone was spinning a tale of a neglected childhood in the Hamptons, pretending to empathize with Brandon as he poured his heart out about broken promises of a pony, and how long it took him to learn to trust... and to love... again.

Let me let you in on a little secret of War. Almost anything goes. There was a time when people held themselves to a higher standard than they do now, but in this current climate it's kill or be killed when you are in a war. I had no clue about Sonni being a spy in Apoc, but I can't say I disapprove considering the fact that you attacked a clan who had done you no wrong and who only wants to zone and have fun.
You create the mentality of this war when you attacked us without warning, and as such you have no room to whine or be up on that high horse of yours. if you wanted some kind of Honorable war, then you should have declared war and fought it in an honorable fashion from the start. You also used unknowns and got help from the outside to ambush us at trin, and regardless of what you or anyone else may think, that's decidedly unhonorable and more than a bit scummy in of itself.
I'm a straight up kinda guy and I tend to keep things on the up and up with everyone in my life (be it on this game or in real life). But when my life is threatened (or in the case of this war, my enjoyment is being ruined) I will do whatever it takes to fight and survive.
If you had wanted to keep spying and whatnot out of the arena of this war, then maybe you should have considered not lowering us all to this level when you decided to use scummy tactics in a war that was suppose to be "just for fun".
This isn't the mael/outlaw war where each side has been at this for almost as long as I have been mudding. This is a war that started out of the blue simply because you were bored and wanted to feel the thrill of combat again. You could have easily set a more friendly and honorable tone to this war by simply declaring war on us and then none of us would feel the need to utterly crush Apoc because we want revenge.
I don't give a fuck what anyone else on this mud thinks of us using Sonni to spy. We are doing what we have to do to keep our clan alive and to let people like Brandon know that CORE isn't simply going to roll over and die and that a war with us is going to be bloody and hard fought.
PS. Don't come whining on here about how you have yet to have an even number fight with CORE. You have no right to even ask such a thing considering you started this war in the manner you did and we had no choice in the matter. It would be different if this had been an agreed upon war, but it isn't.

Just curious, who was this addressed at? I thought it was me, till I realized that quite a few people take issue with how this war was started. And for the record, it doesn't seem like anyone is comparing the two, other the whole "let he who is without sin thing."
I simply pointed out the obvious fact that in any situation of unrestricted warfare, standards will always decline over time. There's a general standard that "people agree on" till somebody gets their back pushed against the wall and breaks an old "rule", or thinks of something new (like taking advantage of certain zones or some random new tactic), and other people will cry foul, and this might go on for a while, but eventually, people get used to the idea. And this pretty much happens up to the point of explicit game rules regarding trash/cheating/etc. (and even then its iffy, given how recently a few people argued that bread-bombing was okay as long as it was done by a non-trash character). There was a time when crossbows and firearms were considered an inhuman means of warfare, and people did refrain from using them, even if it meant losing a potential advantage, and yet here we are.
By the way Baelron, by your standards of rhetoric, Brandon just compared sneaking into another clan and spying to hacking Arctic and deleting another clan. Why don't you call him on that one?
