The well maintained path takes a turn to the east here. The forest
rises up to block the way to the west. You can barely hear a faint gurgling
sound to the south, while to the north there is only a deep silence.

You enter the room and trip over a small tripwire that lies just above
the ground. The logs begin to roll towards you, gaining speed as they go.
The rumble of the logs becomes deafening as you are petrified in fear. The

Impressive, considering he just died...
Backstory for the confused - Tim kills a WILD and known enemy bot army and gets deleted. Clearly the Immortals have deemed the rest of the MUD incapable of competing with RISE on both level and non-level playing fields. RISE decides to protest this latest attack (their is along list of priors but as Mature mudders we don't whine about it, we just RISE and deal with it...i.e the untold story in the cyan fiasco in a prior log) of the Gaylord by running to a dt to mass dt. Except the dt has magically turned into a non-dt. Determined and resolute, off marches the revolt to find the next dt, featured in this log....ofcourse now the thoroughly stymied Gaylord in his amazingly logical brain decides that he must delete the whole clan, maybe in an effort to beat them to the punch and thus somehow reclaim his honor. Poor eddie, bad timing at joining bro!
Mature Mud - haha
Pkdynamic - haha
Welcome to Carebear MUD - all zoners rejoice, your voices have been heard.
Hoss is really something... To go deleting away an entire group of people spending hours on this game to make some kind of point that no one understands. Playerbase -1/4. I can only wait to laugh at the posts on forums rejoicing how this evil group of people is gone and people can roam free and slay dragons.
And seems with the deletion of the first log. There's some asskizzers around here too. Never thought you (whichever asskisser you are) would be so low.
So I have no idea what's going on with mysteriously vanishing entries around here.
If you think you should, then this is Carebear MUD bro - also PS we are not whining, there is a lot shit that came our way you aren't even aware of because we just deal with it like mature gamers and RISE instead of griefing and bringing it to air.
This is a victory post bro, we even clearly beat the Gaylord with the mass dt maneuver!
"However when you don't let others enjoy the game simply because you are bored, that's when the bat comes down."
Bsp has more CRP than rise by almost 3000 meaning they zone much more. Wild has not lost a set and has obviously been zoning and equipping even running blood shoal. Seems like the people who RISE aren't letting enjoy the game are spending quite a bit of time on it.
I think it was Friday, but every time I logged on to peek at who list, there were 6-10 zoning for well over 24 hours. I think the big difference was rushing. People in RISE planned for it, took a vacation day or two, and pushed for an early lead and others just couldn't catch up.
2-3 people wandering around at weird hours was not the competitive edge.
The immortal cheating in this game blows though, people can deny it happens or say it's justified but it really is a load of crap. I should have went with my first thoughts years ago the first time I saw for myself things happen. Immortal cheating doesn't just happen because "people deserve it".
Anyhow, lame lame lame.....
On the front that we drive away players - You can think what you want. We are here to be the best clan in the game. We never intended to random lowbies, or kill lower clans. But you, and everyone else should have known, that Brandon's clan, BSP, Wilds, and Locki's clan would get killed at some point this wipe. I mean look at Locki's post - Preach on FatherIlya - sucking your dick and shitting on us. Why do you think people like that get pk'd over and over and over? You put us out to be the bad guys, but we sit back and get flamed over and over and over.
Let me give you a little intel of what bullshit we put up with this wipe:
1. Tim's rank 20 red robe, 1 skill away from supurb/legend hit 2 action skills while he was looking at the TV. He was immediately deleted after days of playtime 6 days into the rush. We accepted the punishment although it was very harsh. Tim came back resiliently.
2. David's legendary paladin was deleted the day it became legend for a similar reason. Again, we accepted punishment without crying to hard.
3. Immortals controlled Cyan to massrip our group, which lead to BSP killing our mage with nobash/orb and then continuing onto CYAN where the Immortal controlled cyan from speccing so the death slad could be killed and the gear could be fully looted. Probably 20-30 dam and autohaste items.
4. Our legend paladin was abyssed for 7 days without cause, as well as our legend basher because of false rumors other clans started. Immortals failed to investigate the situation properly and acted without evidence by abyssing above characters. A person in our clan had to email the immortals a picture of their college ID to show that they were an IRL person. <-- yes that really happened.
5. Bryton's basher was deleted. Yes let's all laugh at bryton and call him a retard, but he spent time on his char and he was deleted for killing what he thought was an enemy alt.
6. Bryton's lowbie lvl 20 basher was also deleted day 2 of wipe for no reason when he was trying to grind up. No PK involvement, just straight deletion.
7. Tim was deleted (yesterday) for killing 3 untagged chars. Tim claims he had good intel that these people were not only the enemy, but a bot army of the enemy. Whether he was right or wrong, I don't know. 1 of the people tried to talk to Tim after, and tim did talk to him and returned his gear and apologized for pk'ing him.
With all of the above being said, for the first time, Hoss did communicate with me on a frequent basis and I truly appreciate that. Our clan was warned throught he PWIPE news post that there would be low tolerance for any bullshit. We did receive our fair warning. We tried to accept each situation for what it was, and it was explicitly stated in our clan chat that we were under the microscope, and and instance of rulebreaking or cheating would most likely result in deletion. Tim's deletion yesterday may have been warranted, but we have had our fun and wanted to go out on our own terms. Did we go on a PK spree killing every person we saw like in wipes past? Nope. We went out on our own terms, and didn't terrorize the mud.
Call us cheaters, mud-killers, etc all you want. But the fact of the matter is that we got handfuls of tells before we walked off that cliff asking us not to do it and that we would be missed on the game.
When we entered a zone STH was in, a wizinvis immortal told their group leader, Eddie that we were coming to pkill them which was totally untrue.

good game guys.

Your clanmate Badjer has left the game.
Why don't you go back to greeding gear and begging for game info instead of this?
But on a serious note, it is hard to imagine that Jack would refuse a simple peace request from an inferior clan.
also i have only spoken facts. you guys are just talking and making shit up.. Yea i did so bad in the fight. i was the first person to act and went on the said target. not my fault oligo don't pick it up

[10/31/2013 9:16:15 PM] Daniel Long: the inference being you were recently accepted
[10/31/2013 9:16:30 PM] Daniel Long: it has to be either matthew or malaki, and as i said, the minor spelling errors give it away

[10/31/2013 9:17:41 PM] Daniel Long: just make sure if they do catch you, before you get deleted
[10/31/2013 9:17:41 PM] Joseph Rothenburg: well perhaps the only way they would figure it out is if you told acually
[1/7/2014 1:01:29 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: why you rat me out about my immmortal
[1/7/2014 1:01:42 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: thats messed up man :(
[1/7/2014 3:12:46 AM] Daniel Long: it was a massive moral dilemma, i didnt really know what to do. that sort of cheating isn't cool at all and isnt good for arctic. i could care less about botting, but making some fake identity to cheat the system to gain access to a position where you can influence things is fucked
[1/7/2014 3:13:00 AM] Daniel Long: in the end i decided it was the right thing to do, i'm sorry but thats just how i felt
[1/7/2014 3:17:05 AM] Daniel Long: if i didn't say anything that would have been messed up aswell, i lost either way
[1/7/2014 3:17:25 AM] Daniel Long: would have been best if you never said anything
[1/7/2014 3:23:18 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: well at least I know the truth.
[1/7/2014 3:37:07 AM] Daniel Long: i wouldnt lie
[1/7/2014 3:37:31 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: if you knew the truth you would
[1/7/2014 3:38:30 AM] Daniel Long: probably shouldnt tell me then
[1/7/2014 3:39:03 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: no no you did exactly as i wanted you to acually
[1/7/2014 3:39:07 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: your fine
[1/7/2014 3:39:24 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: i was just seeing if you would admit it.
[1/7/2014 3:40:15 AM] Daniel Long: why would i lie
[1/7/2014 3:40:18 AM] Daniel Long: what i did was bad enough
[1/7/2014 3:40:22 AM] Daniel Long: but i didnt really have a choice
[1/7/2014 3:40:27 AM] Daniel Long: i mean, i did but
[1/7/2014 3:40:29 AM] Daniel Long: not really
[1/7/2014 3:40:29 AM] Daniel Long: you know
[1/7/2014 3:40:31 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: no you did good
[1/7/2014 3:41:02 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: just sucks they deleted my mortal to
[1/7/2014 3:41:55 AM] Daniel Long: i mean
[1/7/2014 3:42:01 AM] Daniel Long: when malaki was on today or whatever, i quickly realised
[1/7/2014 3:42:03 AM] Daniel Long: that was not you
[1/7/2014 3:42:09 AM] Daniel Long: the difference in language and spelling is pretty clear
[1/7/2014 3:42:09 AM] Daniel Long: but
[1/7/2014 3:42:19 AM] Daniel Long: i've already done enough to liberate my guilty conscience
[1/7/2014 3:42:23 AM] Daniel Long: so beyond that, its not my problem
[1/7/2014 3:42:46 AM] Daniel Long: and dont tell me the truth, whatever it is
[1/7/2014 3:43:14 AM] Joseph Rothenburg: ok
[1/7/2014 3:43:25 AM] Daniel Long: its better that way for both of us :)(

"I wanted to share a different point of view regarding the RISE clan deletion that occurred this week. Read it and take away whatever you want to from it, spin it however you feel necessary but I will try to lay this out from our point of view and hopefully it will shed a little light.
Many of the players that formed RISE clan were coming off the previous wipe with a less than stellar attitude. There were multiple events in which rules were broken and we needed to address the situation. At the beginning of this wipe, the administration made it very clear that we would have a zero tolerance attitude with them. I spent time and spoke with the clan leader (at the time Snark) and laid out some expectations and consequences. This was done with respect on both sides and no events or mishaps occurred at wipe start. Throughout the wipe however, the overall attitude and conduct of the clan began heading downhill, some actions were taken and again we discussed respectfully with the clan leadership. After several cycles of this behavior we decided that it would be best to send a stronger message to see if would take hold. It had the opposite effect, pushing the clan conduct even deeper downhill and the respect shown to and given by myself and Aristox and all players quickly turned to outright disrespect and malice.
After several outbursts from the clan, I took the lead and deleted all the players of RISE clan. I did so knowing that it was the correct course of action for the overall health of the game. Were there judgment calls that could have gone better? Yes, on both sides of this issue. Rise was playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun and expected different outcomes."

not sure what you do with riot, but congrats on a great free game.

Used to play with Klint for a bit, lol.
If people leave from pk this isn't the game for them. My first wipe I kept getting pk'd over and over by one of the fin crew, and he ended up teaching me all sorts of shit. And actually your clan pk'd me a bunch of times that wipe. Some people, like RISE, find enjoyment in pk. I know wilds must have loved whooping our ass in shoal a few weeks ago.
Also plenty of your crew or your ex crew has some real attitude problems. Just in case you have your blinders on. Most of them I am friends with, a few are as you say toxic
@Qwine thanks for explaining the whole story about #4.
I'll be back sometime to die exploring dumb shit with you gram!
hook up my LoL addiction!
LoL name-brizighton
#1 You look at BSP and you have 3 stacked chars and the rest have training gear - Those that don't have gear are the ones whom you have pk'd...before this war started they all had gear.
#2 We dominate because simply, we are better leaders than you are and care about every clan member. - Clearly you are better leaders, that's why you wanted to extort us for game knowledge for peace.
#3 If people leave from pk this isn't the game for them. - Right there is the core of the problem...don't like the pk then quit, you all have said it over and over and people are quitting.
I'm done responding to this post I've made my point. I'm not saying there aren't valid points on the other side and I don't think the treatment you are getting from Hoss is fair, however I don't think its unfounded either.
LOLID: Joxer the Mighty!!!
Thank you Hoss for sinister barrage with rend, energy drain and pain.
Thank you Hoss for flesh shield, vitriolic shield, tenebrous orb and black rune.
Thank you Hoss for 400,000 coins.
Thank you Hoss for acid mist and malevolent tentacles.
Thank you Hoss for legend comeuppance, dark accord, flesh shield, sinister barrage and spell mods.
For all these things I thank you Hoss. And thank you for taking them away from me. Not that I don't want them back, but I look forward to more gifts next wipe, hopefully more positive.
I wouldn't trade you jobs if I were paid. Iâm sorry that nearly a quarter of the game doesnât agree with your game management. Iâm sorry that this has been the case for years. Iâm sorry that youâve had to tolerate this for so long. Iâm sorry that you have put yourself through this. I hope you find joy and happiness in your management of our beloved Arctic.
We're all grown up kids disagreeing, but since we can't change game management, jumping the logs was our way of self-control. Leave with glory. Leave with peace of mind.
Ilya, thank you for not knowing me, please keep it that way. Gramm you need more church and a new preacher, you need a better duty, Ilya duty is not a good duty. Brandon, lead by example, sharing is caring, hoarding is only temporary, kindness is forever.
Hoss and Aristox, thank you for removing rolling, thank you for those who want to roll but can't, please keep whining so that the Arctic gods may continue to ignore you. Thank you for removing chaotic and lawful. Please incorporate more game transparency. Ideas like how much damage skills do at each skill level so when skilling we know much more about what our skills do. Provide counter for # of times we have to continue to brew until we can move to the next skill level. When killing a mob allow us to see how many hitpoints they have and how much is left. Rather than creating %âs to determine the different fair, bad, v.bad, awful systems allow us to see #âs. Display how effects affect our skills or spells - when a stat is increased or decreased if max str how much additional damage each damage modifier does for each skill. Give me probability %âs when Iâm considered âhard bashâ based upon whatever someone elseâs dexterity, or whatever factor you consider is the modifier, to land a bash. Donât make me sit there for hours wasting time having someone bash me so I manually do this, remove the fluff. Show how much weight we are currently carrying and how much more weight we can carry. Show how many items we are carrying and how many we can carry. Remove unlorable items, thatâs childs play letâs move to the big leagues. Allow decay timers to appear on items. If you donât know the onyx shield decays in X days then damn you for not paying attention. It doesnât matter anyway, WILDS know all these timers and will repop all your gear anyway so donât fret. Allow statting of items when I examine it, rather than wasting time and money on lores and identifies. Allow mob counters so we can who mobs and not waste time going to kill Jendikor and heâs dead. Please continue to make transparent game mechanics. It will allow opportunities for individuals to learn the game at a faster rate, thus we don't have to continue listening to the same problems from the same people.
The more we know the better we can manage the game, the less we know the more time it takes away from our children, our work, our wife, our company, our retirement, our golfing, our basketball, our TV, our movies, our cooking... you get the picture :) Let's create new opportunities, if we continue to do what we've always done we're going to continue to get what we've always gotten.
Thanks for each of you who allowed me to enjoy this wipe and taught me. Thank you for your patience when I acid misted Amity or when I dtâed my new shiny gear or when I told you to relocate to get tome and you met with joy the beloved knights and their steeds. May we drink to the Arctic gods and pray for a brighter future. RISE UP!
LoL ID DropitLikeitsHot
I'm a casual player (this wipe when I was deleted I was rank 13), who has been with SHDY/SOB/RISE on and off since the beginning. We formed with 1 reason in mind: group pk. There were several wipes where a lot of us were with different groups that avoided pk at all costs, either by kowtowing to a certain clan or just by dropping numbers and quitting. Thus, the group of us were all brought together and attempted to join in high level pk... and lost hard. There were several difficult lessons taught by different groups, a lot of innsitting. We didn't quit and certainly didn't kowtow; we reequipped as best we could and moved on.
There was an increased focus to dominate as we went into the last couple of wipes. The main thing we did was learned most of the important zones and quests in the game. We never had any imm willing to hint us kws (like some others), but we did the best we could and gradually got through it all. Finally, we had the knowledge necessary to win.
For whatever reason, perhaps the willingness to fight the whole MUD if necessary, we started drawing unwelcome attention from immortals. Two wipes ago, we had just destroyed WILD and obtained the best gear in the game. There had been several groups (primarily BSP) storing a caster LD at gates in Silvi, taking 10 to Cyan. We certainly weren't the one who thought of it, and at this time I would agree that it was rule breaking, but in any case, the immortals took it upon themselves to change/control Cyan so we would massrip, then abyss our summoner so that we couldn't CR. We did not take the punishment well. This wound up with us suiciding on CORE and leaving for the wipe.
Last wipe, as SOB, we wanted payback and got it. We had rushed really hard and started the fun killing people early and often. Again, we obtained the vast majority of the best gear, highest ranks (for when we left), and spells. Life and boredom intervened for most of us, with the majority of the clan (including myself) quitting fairly early. I believe this left a void; there were several people with almost unlimited gear/spells but no one to play with. Apparently, it wasn't pretty. Bot armies/tether bombs wound up resulting in mass deletion. I agree, if botting/multiing is against the rules, then these things were warranted. However, the staff decided that this should never happen again. I disagree with how they handled it, deleting the bot armies was fine, but deleting players (i.e. Mumu) who weren't specifically breaking the rules is something totally different. Asshat policy winds up being a way for the staff (namely Hoss) to justify unilaterally deleting people without specific cause, or with very minor cause.
Fast forward to this wipe, as RISE we knew we were under the gun with the rules, justifiably. There were several instances listed above where I think we got less than a fair shake but continued playing. Seriously, you are going to tell me that Tim is the only person who had triggers for skills, even though he was actually sitting at his keyboard watching TV? Perhaps, we should have quit right there, knowing what was likely going to happen. In any case, we again popped the majority of the best gear and spells and was in the middle of a war with BSP. We zoned a little everyday, but weren't keeping everyone from playing like the wipe before. Lately, I actually had been thinking our screening and killing of unknown multi's had been very lacking, compared to BSP killing Stahl/Ric. The (failed) ambush of WILD was a direct result in the immortals deleting Mumu. Mumu does play this game for PK, but seemingly was only killing tagged wilds. Tim rightly or wrongly thought that 3 players were WILD multis and killed them, then he gets hassled for it, leading to this log.
If PK is the problem, change PK. If killing geared lowbies is the problem, make people level<25 nohassle. If tether is the problem, change tether. If killing Wilds is the problem, make them all nohassle and save us the trouble. Don't just delete people because you disagree with how they want to play the game if they aren't directly breaking any rules. There has been an evolution where the rules have gone from immortals generally staying out of mortal affairs unless there is cheating involved, to 1 immortal taking it upon himself to kick out ~20-25% of the MUD. "After several outbursts from the clan, I took the lead and deleted all the players of RISE clan." Please, we generally only chat on Skype; you have no idea what we really think of you (HINT: your approval rating is lower than Obama's). "I did so knowing that it was the correct course of action for the overall health of the game." Little full of ourselves, much? Your numbers are way down, and you deleted the top clan in the game for a protest against your heavy-handed involvement, which actually goes against your own rules you have set. Help pkill states, "As a rule, any pkill situation should be handled between mortals." Right....
What I will end with is a paragraph from help immortal policy: "While lower level immortals, given their restrictions, generally can not influence mortal game play, higher level gods can. Unjustifiably doing such in any form will be dealt with harshly. Why? Players don't like an unfair mud. It is our belief that once a mud gets a reputation that the staff cheats, it is very hard to gain credibility afterwards. We do not want this to happen. Because of this, we request that our players not ask immortals to overstep the rules of our policy (see below)."
No credibility or illusion of a balanced playing field left. There are those of us with the ability to wield 6d6 10 10 "long swords", and then there are the rest. We have several instances above of Immortals directly interfering with mortal game play; I would say look into who gave STH the warning tell (we are actually good friends with STH)... except I believe this cheating probably came from Hoss himself. Time to step down, bro.
tl;dr RISE is dead! R.I.P. Have fun players of Arctic, but not too much so that you get deleted by Hoss.
LoL NA: tehmc
Thanks
And Ilya, your definition of a leader and mine are polar opposite. Have fun running blood shoal being a "good leader" stacking your 6th alts with gear and letting your clanmates wield misty longswords. Clearly we have different leadership views.
i do hope you guys make a comeback at some point, pk is still by far the most exciting part of this game
Now being on the other side of the fence, I now know why I meet a lot of people saying the brother is way cooler. But then again, if it's not about eq & arctic mud, I'm sure he is cool!
@ the rise that quit this game just now that just try to enjoy it without forcefully driving people into extinction, i salute you and good bye.
@ the rest of you Good fucking riddance.
So drop it, shut up, and just play the game.
i read this, and i'm pretty sure he just said he put his dick in a guys mouth repeatedly.
We know, we both forged our best friendships and enjoyed our best moments when we were underdogs taking on the challenge of unseating the overpowered top dogs over the last few wipes and believe that this challenge is what has propelled the game ever onward.
However if the current pbase has moved the Immortals, who by their actions in turn have told us the they wanted us to stop being such a challenge - well, this is us stopping - In our mind neither the CarebearMUD it has turned into, nor engaging in whining and complaining about this change are our bag.
We, spent time on a game we loved, and when it stopped being that game, well it's time to move on.
If like Gramm, this is the MUDDing experience you guys prefer, then rejoice and enjoy. We won't begrudge you that. It's just not for us.
The only really funny thing about the event is the dt that changed into a non-dt to thwart the mass dt attempt and the mass deletion by Hoss that followed for mass dt'ing, because that is clearly a deletion worthy action on a mature MUD.
We are not bitching about it, we are laughing about it.
Huge difference.
Who needs to play the game when you can read much more interesting stuff like a mass deletion and subsequent whining :) Ok I need a life and some better distractions.....

What i do know is that im a neutral zoning thief who's only friends in the game aren't playing. I was killed by rise, probably just a bored 'lets hit it' thing and that kinda sucks.
But while it does suck to get randomed like that i just decided to keep on keeping on, ya , it sucks and i sometimes feel that rise is just a bunch of assholes, but they are awesome, and i didnt cry about getting ganked.
I play liana , hit me up sometime.
@patrick, great logic. rise got deleted 5 minutes after dt'ing and the log went up an hour later.
@zizekat, we need a thief for next wipe, i like your attitude!
All the bitching here means to me that Arctic is still alive.
The only thing i cant get is why the fuck you still play this game?
